In reality, there have been less and less especially young people are willing to work in the factory especially on those positions mainly focused on picking and placing. Sun Strong noticed the trends some years ago and started to apply robotic pnp to perform those boring jobs. Today, there are more than 100 robotic arms are servicing in the factory across different workshops. One of the management objective is to apply a total of 300 robots in the factory by 2023 which could possibly reduce our labor level to 200.

Sun Strong currently has 100+ press stations supported with robotic pnp which give the company sufficient capacity and flexibility to serve current customers' upside demand on high volume production. The company is also making short and long terms investment plans to strengthen the company's market position. One of the important decisions is to purchase another 3 stations of 2000T or above by 2022.
Turret Punchers and Laser Cutting Machines
In addition to the traditional presses working with tooling and dies, Sun Strong also has a dedicated workshop to support LOW VOLUME and HIGH MIX production. For examples, turret punching machines, laser cutting machines, press brakes, deburring machines, timesavers and leveling machines. This is the reason why Sun Strong is being picked by the leading companies as a strategic supplier because of the high flexibility to support parts made in various sizes and batch volumes.
Critical Equipment to Support Low Volume Production
It doesn't make any sense to build deburring or levelling tool for low volume parts so a fine deburrer and leveller is more than necessary to support the edge and flatness requirement of low volume production. Otherwise you can only do it by hand, filer and hammer which is absolutely unsafe, unrepeatable and undesirable.
The Future
Like what the management had noticed some years ago. Today we are standing right on the cusp of a new automation era. Super Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning are qualifying machines to match or even outperform humans in a wide range of jobs and activities. The company is preparing for another stage of investment in term of automation potential in both short and long terms.
